Dr. Georg Reutter is new vdp President

- vdp Members’ Meeting elects new Board of Directors
At the 17th Members’ Meeting of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp) Dr. Georg Reutter, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of DZ HYP, was voted the new President of the vdp. Reutter takes over from Dr. Louis Hagen, who held that position for six years and did not stand again for re-election for age reasons. However, Hagen will continue to sit on the vdp’s Board of Directors.
“I would like to thank the members for the confidence placed in me and look forward to the task of vdp President,” said Reutter. “Big challenges lie ahead for the Pfandbrief banks in the coming years. As important property finance providers, our member banks can play a major part in realising political projects such as the housing initiative and the sustainable transformation of the economy, and they stand ready to do so. To this end, however, they need a regulatory setting that enables them to provide that support. I will do my utmost to achieve this,” Reutter stated.
Reutter, who in keeping with the vdp’s Statutes was elected for two years until the next election of the vdp President in 2024, has served on the vdp’s Board of Directors since 2012. In 2008 he joined the Board of Managing Directors of DZ HYP, where he was appointed Spokesman in 2009 and Chairman in 2013. Following today’s election, Reutter thanked his predecessor and drew particular attention to his achievements. “Dr. Louis Hagen led the Association skillfully for six years. In dealings with policymakers and supervisory bodies he represented the Pfandbrief banks’ interests in an exemplary manner at all times. Moreover, the vdp gained new members in recent years under his leadership.”
The regular election of the vdp’s Board of Directors was also held today for a new two-year term of office. Twelve members were re-elected and one new member was appointed: Alexander Müller, member of the Board of Managing Directors of Deutsche Apotheker- und Ärztebank, joined the vdp’s Board of Directors. Müller succeeded his fellow Board member, Holger Wessling, as a result of a change of departmental responsibilities within their bank.
